Lockdown Day 582 - 29 October 2021
Today I heard someone remark to a friend in a supermarket it is black Friday. I immediately thought of the retail frenzy every year end of November. Realising they were talking about a different Friday, I was at first puzzled. But then it hit me. They were talking about Halloween.
I wondered about this culture that reached our shores a while back. The internet is full of articles on the origin of this culture and having read many it is safe to say our family does not partake in this "ritual" purely because Jesus Christ is not central to this culture.
Personally I see no benefit teaching kids to dress like death and try to "christianise" it by being "nice" to people. Darkness is darkness no matter how you dress it up. It's like giving permission for your daughter to go to a strip club as long as she keeps her clothes on.
So tonight on this halloween weekend I pray for everyone who participates because everybody else does it.
I pray they will look up the Truth and sit a while with Him. For the words of Romans 12:2 to tangibly take hold of the spirit of man, believers and unbelievers alike.
Having Him in my life far surasses the urge to party with pumpkins.
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2
