Lockdown Day 575 - 22 October 2021
Friday. Busy day for me with a couple of errands, appointments and phone calls. The day started out partly cloudy and later some rain actually came down, but stopped abruptly after 3mm. So still, we pray.
With all my errands, I did some people watching/listening concerning the rain. Absolutely no-one seems perturbed by the rain. Everybody is complacent (smug or uncritical) and indifferent (unconcerned, having no particular interest or emotion).
The description of those two words says it all. Nobody displays any kind of passionate emotion for rain, or the lack thereof. It seems as if everyone is in some way brainwashed. Or maybe entitled. I wonder about the spiritual barriers all this lack of enthusiasm and faith creates. Could it be that the people here attract the drought through their complacency and entitlement?
I find myself doing introspection of my own soul. So tonight I offer up a prayer for God to help me to never become complacent or indifferent and give Him permission to 'poke' me when I do. I also offer up a prayer for the collective renewal of the joy of the people in spite of the drought.
