Lockdown Day 561 - 8 October 2021
A visit to Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij was my destination for the morning, an epic core trip planned well in advance was underway!! We were excited about our visit to this cheese factory firmly rooted in Netherlands history.
Situated close to the Hartbeespoort dam, at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountains in Skeerpoort, they offer a variety of activities such as mountain biking and hiking trails. They also have cheese tours and cheese making experiences, a shop with everything from drop to spekulaas biscuits and, of course, Annelies van Gaalen's famous Gouda and a variety of other cheeses.
After exploring the picnic areas and taking pictures, we settled in on the terrace of the restaurant. We shared a cheese platter featuring all kinds of antpasti eats and cheeses. The basil pesto cheese deserves a mention.
We also shared our hearts, fuelling that much needed production of oxytocin friends only get from sharing. We discussed everything from the latest news shockers to school trends and mused over the purpose of life, choices people make and our love for Jesus.
We left, feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, our off-the-wall sense of humour still intact. Normal, to us, is being able to extract maximum joy out of anything. Mission accomplished!
Inspired to survive another day in this crazy world, I fall asleep knowing God's got this for sure.
