Lockdown 573

Lockdown Day 573 - 20 October 2021
Yesterday, one of our varsity friends and old army buddy popped in for coffee and today I met with one of my school friends I haven't seen in about 20 years. The memories flooded our morning, catching up on everyone's whereabouts and our own lives and families.

We spoke about the human contact thing brought on by the infodemic. When we were growing up, a couple of things were missing. Cellphones, social media and computers were mere speculation in futuristic magazines.

How on earth did we get along? We spoke about a simple thing such as meeting each other for coffee or visiting each other at home. Apart from land-line telecommunication, we had to physically see each other to make a date. And then, we just rocked up. No inbetween fast messaging, calendar reminders or group texts.

We spent real time together and knew each other inside and out. Looking into each other's eyes to read the soul, gauging one another's hearts and minds to read the human spirit, processing facial expressions and responding accordingly.

Those were the days when boys settled an argument hard and fast with a smack, girls using the gift of their gab and teachers had the authority to discipline those out of line. Those were the days where God was revered and His Word followed to the letter.
Just think about this for a moment.
