Lockdown Day 220 - 1 November 2020
Last night we had a wonderful evening with lifetime varsity friends Marius and Helena. Visits with them is always an amazing heart warming time where we catch up with what is going on in our lives, share good food and great stories. A thunderstorm brought us a cool wet evening and we slept soundly with the steady pitter patter on the windows.
The road home was a different picture. Heavy rain, busy highway with a lot of traffic struggling through water gushing everywhere and mist with little visibility. But the rain was like a gift to mother earth and we shall not complain about it. Rather, we shall give praise to the our God, the ultimate Rainmaker.
Speaking of rain, I recently came across some mind boggling numbers. When thinking of rainfall and how it is measured, did you know that 1mm rain measured in a rain gauge represents 1litre water per 1 square metre.
So, if your gauge measures 25mm of rain in a 1000 square metre property, it represents 25 ton of water.
Thus, 1 hectare will be 250 ton water.
Say you have 1000 ha farm and it rains 80 mm, it will be 800 ton x 1000ha, thus 800 000ton water. If you could load all that water on a 10 ton water truck 10 times a day for a year, it will take 22 days to deliver it all!
And so our Waymaker Rainmaker Miracle God just makes it happen in a day or three. Man cannot make rain or water and we are eternally bound to our Provider for this life giving resource.
And when we choose Him as our Source, our spirits are eternally bound untill we spend eternity with Him.
So tonight, with 40mm rain in our gauge, I pledge anew to honour the spirit bond to my heavenly Father Who kindly and generously provides for us. May we reciprocate this with generous adoration every minute of our lives...... because we can't make rain. And because He deserves it. And because He's got this.

the blessing of rain!
