Lockdown 231

Lockdown Day 231 - 12 November 2020
One of the things I saw when I was walking on the beach in PE was a huge school of bottlenose dolphins. I haven't seen dolphins this close in a while. I was mesmerised by their sheer power and agility, group adherence and interaction.

I could identify the adults who were cruising steadily at the front end of the school. The crèche was in the middle with the little ones and their babysitter. The tail end of the school was made up of teenagers and young adults playing and jumping (called breaching) and speeding as they caught up with the rest of the group as they fell behind.

I felt a tinge of jealousy of them being so free in the water. I wondered about their habitat and the dangers they have to dodge everyday, realising they too, have daily challenges just like us. There is so much we have in common, yet we are so different.
Some of the similarities include belly buttons and specialised brain cells dedicated to intelligent thought, recognise themselves in a mirror, display problem solving skills and experience complex emotions.

Dolphins have a couple of super powers humans don't. One is supersonic hearing which enables them to see in x-ray vision. They also don't really sleep with their brain hemispheres taking turns to stay awake so they can breathe.

There is however a mystic component to human-dolphin interaction which causes boundaries between the two worlds to disappear. It has been written about more times than I can even look up, all with the same conclusion: these are the therapists and soul deliverers of our planet. Which is confirmed by the delight and lightness I was feeling.

Such is the path we walk on through our lives: mapped out by Him, our Giver of Life. And when special blessings come past we need to be ready to engage and be enriched and inspired. Like a little feather on your daily walk or a jumping dolphin on a rainy day. It is God reminding you of your worth and that He's got this.
