Lockdown 222

Lockdown Day 222 - 3 November 2020
Seasons are designed for a reason. The earth's tilted axis is the natural reason for the four seasons. But we also have seasons in our lives. Seasons to live in certain places and seasons to pull up roots.

Our season in Bloem has come to an end. Time to pull up roots and leave our #lifeinamatchbox. This simple act of pulling up roots is something people around the globe do all the time. Some more than others and some go further than others. And the reasons have basically stayed the same over time:
Choice or offer of work, health, space requirements, trauma/necessity or retirement.

Ours is work-driven but our belief is also Godly providence. The matchbox was good to us and I find myself strangely sad for having to leave. But this end to 2020 signifies the beginning of a new season with many new horizons to cross.
As we have found over the years, leaving doesn't mean losing contact or forgetting, it only means our phonebooks have grown and we are in the lucky position to have friends in many places.

So tonight I offer up a prayer of thanksgiving for every single friend I met and got to know in all the places I have lived. Here in Bloem too. And I pray that you will keep making Bloem the warm city it was to us and keep making the difference for those around you just like you've made for us.

In the next 4 weeks we will be cleaning out and packing up, finalising paperwork and arrangements. And I will be reporting about it all from time to time.

I can truly say I have experienced these words in Proverbs 17:17, "A dear friend will love you no matter what, and a family sticks together through all kinds of trouble."
