Lockdown Day 147 - 20 August 2020
Winston Churchill once said, “The empires of the future are the empires of the mind.” Yesterday's video speaks of the pictures in our mind that can determine the state our body and soul ends up in. I thought of this quote from Churchill which, in a way, says the same thing.
An empire is a state, so one could say the state of your future depends on the state of mind you're in. This past week I experienced first hand how my state of mind can really alter any perspective I have of the path I am walking.
For most of my life I could always stay positive, no matter what happened.
This week it literally felt as if my happy hormones have left me to go do a comedy show someplace else. It took me 4 days to realise I was 'dumped' by those hormones, and another day of incessant scripture quoting / "showering of the pure water of the Word" (Ephesians 5:25b-26) to get them back. Of course, the body takes a little longer to start the good cycle up again.
I ended up in Psalm 119, and my world became light again:
"Your promises are the source of my bubbling joy; the revelation of your word thrills me like one who has discovered hidden treasure." Psalm 119:162
"I’ve learned that there is nothing perfect in this imperfect world except your words, for they bring such fantastic freedom into my life!" Psalm 119:96
"Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your word makes my pathway clear." Psalm 119:105
"You’re my place of quiet retreat, and your wrap-around presence becomes my shield as I wrap myself in your word!" Psalm 119:114
I leave you with a beautiful song asking the word of God to speak, sung by Mercy Me:
