Lockdown Day 148 - 21 August 2020

Level 2 has brought back alcohol and tobacco sales.  Someone said on the radio they wonder if the market for illegal trading will take a knock. 😂

One of Winston Churchill's less known quotes is about how alcohol never controlled him, "All I can say is that I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me.”

It's hard to believe we are already heading for the second week of level 2. It's also hard to believe how alcohol and tobacco have suddenly taken posession of the broader community. 

What, really, makes a person an addict? 

It is described as an uncontrollable chronic need for a habit-forming substance, behaviour or activity. The end result is life threatening. 

You only need to visit any emergency room from today to see the effect. Or Google images of what an addict's brain looks like (prepared to be shocked). 

Winston Churchill also said, “The power of man has grown in every sphere, except over himself.” How true is this, even more so today. 

I am endlessly relieved that man has no power over God. What a better place the world would be if all people surrendered all power to God all the time. 

So tonight I go to sleep with complete peace, because my life is firmly surrendered into the hands of Yahweh my Father, Who never sleeps and knows exactly what lies ahead. Yes, He's got this.
