Lockdown Day 143 - 16 August 2020
And so the Prez spoke again. Lockdown shifts gears into Level 2. But there's fair warning: this is just for the economy, not because it's safe. For once, I agree. It feels like a prisoner who's been dreaming of the day of 'freedom', but when that moment arrives, doubt sets in about what lies ahead. I have coined this feeling HHM (Hijacked in Hitler Mode) - hope and promise, but when?
Take the gym for instance. You can go......either you wonder if it's really such a good idea 🤔, or you're like, "Yeah, gym time here I come!" You happily pack your gym bag and head off to the gym.
Upon arriving, you are met with a queue. But, you wait, patiently, excited. After the virus protocols have been met, you're inside. The smell of sweat and the beat of the music waves you in. But suddenly you wonder about who touched what and are the airconditioners filtering the air at 0.02μm?
You see all the familiar faces (exercise with a mask??), the ones who never use a towel on the seats, others whose sweaty droplets always become airborne while passing you to the next station.
You leave with your Kauai coffee while re-thinking open air boot-camps.
The path of life has never been pink marsmallows and fluffy clouds. And we now live in a world forever changed by an abominable virus. I have thought a lot about how, 143 days ago, people in Europe said the world will never be the same again. Now, on the back-end of Lockdown, confronted by the reality of those words, they may after all be right.
So, we shall continue to walk this earth, albeit in the wake of an abominable virus we have overcome. So let's walk this walk with Jesus, who said, “These words I have spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you have pressure, but take courage, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
God's still got this.
