Lockdown Day 136 - 9 August 2020
Today, as the August wind picked up speed (and dust), I photographed the sky, wanting to see if the dust would show up on the picture. You know when you see something so clearly with the naked eye, but when you take a picture, it is barely visible.
But when I looked at the picture I saw a cloud that looked exactly like an eye, complete with an eyebrow too (and of course very little dust was visible). I immediately looked up and saw the eye-cloud for a few minutes, before the wind changed its shape.
This eye made me think about the human eye and the sensitivity of our eyes to discern things at a depth a camera lens cannot capture. It is said the resolution of the human eye is 52 mega pixels, where camera resolutions vary between 2 and 20 mega pixels.
The eye also captures in 3D, as opposed to a camera which captures in 2D. In dummy terms, a mega pixel is made up of 1million pixels.
A pixel is a tiny square containing information that makes up a visual part of a picture. So the more pixels, the more accurate the rendition of what is being photographed.
For many generations inventors and technical designers have been working at improving camera performance. Digital editing can simulate the eye, but never replace it.
Did you know your eye is made up of more than 2 million parts and each eye consists of 102 million cells which are all light sensitive?
The eye muscle is the fastest muscle in the body (blink, blink). Did you know an astronaut cannot cry in space? The lack of gravity cause tears cannot fall, but collect in little balls that make their eyes sting. And if you suffer from
Ommetaphobia, you have an irrational fear of eyes, touching your own or looking at others’ eyes.
The eye-cloud I saw this morning, warmed my heart, because the overall feeling of trust and safety it embodied, confirmed to my spirit the Truth of God’s visible and tangible presence. I believe He makes things visible to the human eye to impart Truth.
After all, He created us and carefully crafted our eyes too, so He would know how to make unseen things visible to us when needed, in order to build us up and to strengthen our faith.
All we have to do is love and worship Him. As it is written in Psalm 33:18, “The eyes of the Lord are upon even the weakest worshipers who love him— those who wait in hope and expectation for the strong, steady love of God.”
eyes if God! ☺
