Lockdown Day 127 - 31 July 2020
Today I spoke with a farmer friend. They farm with crops and livestock. Living close to the earth, their house is nestled in the mountainous Eastern Free State where the only loud sounds that are heard, are their livestock bleating, bellowing and a mixed array of other bird sounds coming from the little dams surrounding the house.
For us city dwellers, just the thought of having so much space to oneself lifts the spirit. Apart from all the work that constantly needs to be done on a farm, the space and silence speaks for itself.
Space is what gives our existence depth and dimension. Space gives us room for movement. The space within my spirit is the place where the presence (depth) of the Spirit of God (dimension) resides.
Silence is often feared and some people cannot process silence, causing them to be constantly on the go, constantly busy. To me, mindful silence is when I choose to go and find a quiet spot to calm my spirit.
Truth is, space and silence has never before been this sought after. In a way Lockdown restrictions have slowly infiltrated our quitening-of-the-mind-activities, what with living and working in the same space. The boundaries that keep work out of our personal lives have become blurred.
When you feel your space and silence have been hijacked, become a farmer spiritually! Decide to work when the work demands it and decide to be home when the work is done.
Tonight I will renew my vow to first consult my Creator and His Word.
He is the Maker of space and silence, and I will use the golden minutes for Him. Because I know when I do this, He will manage my time and send the hijackers packing.
And because He's got this.
...become a farmer spiritually... good thought! ♥
