Lockdown 107

Lockdown Day 107 - 11 July 2020
Greetings from the Free State, or rather the Freezing State. The day started out at 5 °C, up to 9°C and now decreasing steadily. So it never really warmed up. We went to refuel my car, and just as I thought, a 'sticky' substance fell down like rain on the windscreen.......tiny snowdrops! Reports of snow in places like Lady Grey and other places also came in on local news portals.

We decided to duck into a quaint and wonderful place called Koekela Huiskafee. The fire was crackling and we were welcomed by Nadine like close family, (masked) smiles all around!  With a seat next to the fireplace, my body settled into the comforting arms of the art deco chair.

Between Gabrielle's decadent impromptu new design mocha, the breakfast burger and sweet nougatine, we shared our way into Saturday oblivion, forgetting it's cold outside. Our view was a bay window through which the pale blue sky patches covered in ice clouds, drifted past on the wind like a movie.

We spent the rest of the daylight hours lazing around under blankets, catching up on movies, reading and drifting off for a quick nap. We saw the clouds lift and the starry night sky open up, leaving no place for any warmth to hide.

So tonight I offer up a prayer for those in need of the warmth of God's love, the love for us and the world He created. I offer up a prayer for His Spirit to cover the earth, and for all His children to live like He taught them to.

And as the moon makes its entrance into the dark night, drawing light patterns into my room through the leaves, I fall asleep knowing God's got this.
