Lockdown 709

Lockdown Day 709-5 March 2022
We enjoyed a slow start to a lazy Saturday after the men left for a drive on the farm.

Later in town for some fresh produce, we went for a delicious flat white and perfect wafer thin omelet at the local hang-out, the Ark.

Situated on the R75 going through the town and next to the dry riverbed, the Ark was buzzing with locals, boasting plenty of home baked goodies, clothing and home decor items for sale.

The afternoon temperature was a relatively cool 28°C as all of us settled down for a nap. We spent the evening enjoying a tomato lamb stew as just the karoo can offer. Lip smacking good with no off-switch for my tastebuds.

After a generous slice of amarula cream cake we called it a day and went to bed. The temperature never really cooled down and we fell asleep, grateful for the air conditioning in our room.

So tonight I honour another iron woman who farms on her own after many years in an oppressive marriage before becoming a widow. Not only had she endured the abuse of a narcissist and alcoholic, she stood the test of severe droughts and other adversities.

I am grateful she found a loyal supportive friend in our farmer friend and admire her for still looking to God for all her needs.
I salute you, Iron woman!
