Lockdown 452

Lockdown Day 452- 21 June 2021
Winter solstice is from 05:31 today for 24 hours. This means today was the shortest day and tonight the shortest night of the year. It also means the earth's axis in the southern hemisphere is tilted furthest away from the sun.
In the Northern Hemisphere it is the summer solstice, where the sun will be directly over the tropic of Cancer at noon and the daylight hours the longest.

The solstice is supposed to mark the middle of winter....... ahem.......I think not. For the second week since we have arrived, it has been 27+ degrees and hot enough for summer clothing.
This is like the 30 degrees we had in April in Pretoria. I am wondering if the seasons have moved on an additional month to the one it has already skipped. And if I will ever see puffer-jacket-cold.

Today is Day 452 of Lockdown. 452 days from now will be 22 September 2022, one day before our spring equinox.
Equinoxes happen in Autumn and spring, and solstices in summer and winter. It is determined by the position of the sun in relation to the axis (solstices) and the equator (equinoxes).

Although these happenings are commemorated by many cultural groups for different reasons,  I for one will definitely do a rain dance for winter. And when the rain and the winter appear!
According to all the weather sites, PE is a summer rain area, although it has rained during the winter at times. To me, winter is the perfect time for rain in this drought stricken area. Because that would just make God's power and existence all the more awesome!!

Because I firmly believe He can do this. #Ggt
