Lockdown Day 433- 2 June 2021

Tonight is the 5th night I get in bed hearing the rain symphony against the window. Wow, God is good all the time and all the time God is good!!

The smell of rain on dry earth has a distinct fragrance in different parts of the world, but all essentially resemble a musty kind of fresh one cannot really describe. This is the smell of geosmin, a substance produced by cyanobacyeria.

The villagers of Kannauj in India (four hours east of the Taj Mahal) have inherited the fantastic skill of capturing the scent of rain.

They manufacture a signature fragrance called Mitti Attar, meaning Earth's Perfume. It is extracted from parched clay and then distilled using techniques from ancient trades.

Packaged in a leather bottle, it is said to release the familiar smell of geosmin as soon as it comes into contact with the moisture of one's skin.

How amazing is the creation of God, to create a smell that can only happen when it rains. Tonight this smell is very pungent, wafting through my bathroom window which is open only ever so slightly. From now on I shall call it Godly encounter of special majestic infusing nature (Geosmin).
