Lockdown Day 257 - 8 December 2020
And so we're on our way. Namibia winks. #Roadtrip. We settle in and relax as the kilometers fly past. Slowly we get into a rhythm and rotate drivers with 1100 kilometers to go. Our biltong stop in Sannieshof delivered excellent produce and the first coffee in Upington was glorious. Inbetween we had my "yummy toebies" (buttered seed roll slathered with mayo and mustard on opposite sides, smoked ham stacked like roses, topped with cheddar and fresh thyme from my new herb garden).
I had a good afternoon nap on the back seat, the kind when the voices and music in the front of the car fades and disappears while you drift off into dreamland.
With the sounds of Heuwels Fantasties, Tuindwergies and Spoegwolf (amongst others) we drove through a humongous sandstorm and rain smashing down from very heavy clouds. What a wonderful sight.
And then, the border posts. Unbeknownst to us, a huge hailstorm had hit both posts a couple of days ago. It afforded us a very rare sight of literally pans of water all over the place. Plus, it was cool out, instead of the usual 50°C we always encounter.
The result of the storm, however, was a power outtage leaving the officials with frustratingly slow processing of screening, passports, etc.
So on the SA side, I decided to solicit my prayer warriors to pray and I started prayer walking as the queue just became longer. Finally, 30 minutes later, the officials could help us in spite of the problems, and after the police looked over our baggage we drove the 15km to the Namibian side.
After going through a second Covid screening and having to produce our negative results, passports went without a hitch and we were in Nam!
I breathed a silent thank you to God for His goodness while we drove with the late afternoon sun in our eyes.
Onwards through Karasburg to our overnight destination in Grűnau, The White House. They let us know earlier they have a smorgasbord of marrow soft lamb, venison and chicken waiting for us for dinner. And what a delicious spread it was!
Retiring in the quiet nothing of a myriad of stars and deafening silence, I am aware of the greatness of a God we cannot fully comprehend. A God who comes to us because He wants to fellowship with us. Because we are His Creation for Him to enjoy.
Looking out the window into His expanse, I know for sure He's got this.
Most beautiful photo's. Glorious Namibia! ☺
