Lockdown Day 775-10 May 2022
Loading day. At last the chaos was taken out and loaded for PE. Save for a couple of furniture pieces, all the important things were miraculously jigsaw-puzzled onto that trailer.
Conrad the mover man has a rare talent for a man: to fill a space impossibly well. No offense, but women definitely have the upper hand in how to pack and manoeuvre any space to the max.
When he eventually left and Lukas also said goodbye, I sat on the floor with Roxy in my arms. We were both totally exhausted, she, from playing chief of security all day and "overseeing" the moving operations and I, from the past week's relentless packing. My fingerprints don't even work on any device and the state my hands are in, compares well with sand paper.
I spent the last hours of daylight, folding washing and boxing last minute rugs and dirt trappers I had washed today. Dinner was a quiet stoep sit with Gin in a coffee mug and a Woolies coronation chicken wrap.
I am camping out in my house with a tiny camping cooler, sleeping in what used to be the spare room. The house sounds hollow, just like a dormitory. I wonder, what makes a house feel like home in stead of just being living quarters.
I fall asleep silently thanking God for all the little mercies and fine detail He had shown me throughout the day. As the half moon drifts past my window, I know for sure He's got this.
