Lockdown Day 742-7 April 2022
Today, while swimming in very windy conditions I had to stop frequently to catch my breath. While doing so, the huge expense of water around me got me thinking about water in general.
Seeing as our bodies consist of 70% water, I think it's fair to say that we are drawn to water in many ways. We all know dehydration is very bad for us, resulting in bodily "malfunction" or "dis-ease" (which is where the word disease comes from).
In the same way our eyes blink without us even noticing, our body is very creative with its need for water and hydration. We are not really aware of the signals of dehydration until we start feeling ill.
So how do we know when we need water? Well, according to sportsmen, you are already dehydrated when you become aware of your thirst. So water intake needs to become automatic, just like brushing teeth.
Scheduling your 8 glasses is a good idea at first, to get into a rhythm. And don't think you need less in winter just because it's cold. You still need it all. And none other beverages count as substitutes.
More about this tomorrow.
We have been designed to function optimally when our body has 70% water. Anything less will compromise the design.
Think about it.
