Lockdown 404

Lockdown Day 404 - 4 May 2021
Decluttering is a liberating thing to do. It is also completely exhausting. I suppose you need to be exhausted so you can forget the hard work after seeing the fruits of your labour.

There's nothing like that feeling after you've cleaned up and organised a space, when you walk in and feel the lightness of the decluttered space.

Decluttering the mind is similar. While it is believed that physical clutter leads to mental clutter, mental clutter can exist without physical clutter. Here are a few  ways to declutter mentally and re-focus your mind:

  • It is always a good idea to declutter your physical environment even if it isn't really cluttered, just rearranging and cleaning up will do wonders.
  • Ditch old school ways of millions of little pieces of paper and post-its. Create a notepad on your cellphone to store all these tidbits of info and diarise your appontments with reminders. Try Google Calendar, Todoist, ColorNote or MixNote. This way you go green, save the trees, etc.
  • Empty the drawers of the past from your mind and LET IT GO.
  • Limit what comes into your mind and be decisive about it. Draw a line if you must. Unsubscribe from everything unnecessary.
  • Auto-tasking: 1. Put all habits and rituals on the "repeat cycle". Things such as deciding what to eat for breakfast, when you automatically grab the yogurt and muesli. Get on with it.      2. Stop multitasking and finish one thing at a time, prioritising the important tasks first.

Starting the day with two or three mind-body connection activators (such as the looking up exercise I described in the moon watching post) can get you on track for a productive day. Less clutter, more focus.
Be kind to yourself.
