Lockdown 315

Lockdown Day 315 - 4 February 2021

Many bucket lists have been composed by people for many different reasons. Some are to be obsessively executed and ticked off, others are just a dream list to choose from when the time comes for a getaway. And some are thematic, like a list of theatres to visit or a list of hiking trails to go and do.

If ever I were to compile a bucket list it will contain places to swim. And swimming experiences. Like the coldest lake or swimming with the Dusky dolphins of the south-west Atlantic.  I remember in 2019 I watched a series called Top Secret Swimming Holes where lesser known places to swim were featured. Now, I didn't watch them all, but it certainly was inspiring. So my bucket list will definitely have a theme of places to swim and also swimming with dolphins. 

One place specifically comes to mind when thinking of the series, and that is Takachiho Gorge in Japan. It just gripped my imagination. So, apart from swimming with Duskies off the Atlantic coast of South America, this Gorge wins first prize. Also, I would LOVE to swim in some of the South African pools that were also featured in this series. 

So, my mantra for a post abominable virus era (dreaming is not forbidden yet!) is, If you don't know all the sights South Africa has to offer, you can't go elsewhere. And, if you are living abroad, you need to adopt the same mantra for the country you are residing in. After living here for all my life, I still haven't seen it all. 

Food for thought.

Today, after probably having one of the worst inner conflict days over all things Lockdown (please tell me I am not alone), God has inspired me to write down my first bucket list. Whether or not I will get to it all, the written down list will definitely serve a humongous purpose, both physically and spiritually. I will keep me focused on God's creation, of which I am a part, and help me to unpack that design I keep talking about. The design He decided to create for you and me. 

In John 14:6,  Jesus Himself said these words, "Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to know my Father too." So tonight I offer up a prayer for everyone who is searching, everyone who is sorry and everyone who desperately needs to know their design. And for all to get up and keep on keeping on. 

This too shall pass. 

Because God's got this.
