Lockdown 312

Lockdown Day 312 - 1 February 2021
Still on the topic of our interesting earth, nature itself also presents many unknown optical illusions and interesting things many of us don't know about. The following ones caught my attention:

Off the coast of the tropical Island of Mauritius, there is a natural optical illusion caused by sand and silt deposits that build up along the coast (Renate, you need to go an see this!) :

Jacob's well in Texas stretches down 30 feet (roughly just over 9 metres), but when the boys in this picture jump, it looks as if they are entering an abyss. Jacob's well is filled with crystal clear spring water, making it a lucrative destination for adrenaline junkies and romantics alike:

Although this looks like a dead tree lying in snow, but it is actually in the desert of Mexico's Baja California! The 'branches' are really a weaving river snaking its way through the desert:

In Utah, this walker looks like he is on the verge of disappearing into the Glen-Canyon. But he is in actual fact only enjoying a stroll along the river bed:

This incredible optical light illusion must be something to behold. It is the Horsetail Waterfall in Yosemite looking like free flowing lava on fire. The illusion is caused by the setting sun hitting the waterfall and mountain face just at the right angle.  Imagine how long the photographer sat there to take this picture, or maybe it was a great surprise:

Nature has a way of surprising us over and over again. So it is when we walk with God. He surprises us even more, requiring us to be in tune a little closer and more attentive than with phenomena like these. How exciting to walk into an unknown future with a known God we can trust implicitly.
