Lockdown Day 314 - 3 February 2021
I've always wondered about the fascination man has with water. From infancy, straight through to old age, people are either fascinated or drawn by water. Whether it is because of positive or negative experiences, we are unavoidably linked with water.
One way this obsession is translated is in designs of man made structures. It almost always is inspired by nature. Man has set out to bring nature into the concrete jungle, succeeding to a certain extent.
First up is a house beyond the edge in Sagres, Portugal, designed by Atelier Monolit, complete with a "daredevil" balcony to make you feel like an adrenaline addict:
Next is a Solo House in MatarraƱa in eastern Spain, designed by TNA Architects to look like an inverted pyramid sunken into rural terrain:
Casa Brutale located in the Faqra Mountain outside Beirut, is built into a cliff at an altitude of 1969ft (just over 600m), breathtakingly overlooking the Aegean Sea (an arm of the Mediterranean Sea, located between the Greek peninsula on the west and Asia Minor on the east), with a pool as its roof:
Last but not least, the Stavanger House and the Red Villa, both in Norway, designed by Alexander Nerovnya. This is organic architecture designed to immerse its inhabitants in nature:
How amazing is the design of the human brain: part of nature, yet sophisticated beyond imagination. Tonight I muse over what God had in mind for each of us when He created us. Could it be that we have been designed with a particular set of skills to do what He wants us to do for the greater good of mankind?
What I know for sure, is He designed us for Himself to enjoy, so why not enjoy Him too? While He's got this, we might as well immerse ourselves in this design He planned for us.
