Lockdown 800

Lockdown Day 800-4 June 2022
Eight hundred (yes, 800) days ago our lives were irrevocably changed because of an abominable virus and a world gripped by fear of the unknown.

Picture a day in October 2019, where life is happening as normal. You invite a couple of friends over and at the dinner table the futuristic one (there is always such a person) casually says, "Hey guys, imagine in 6 months time we will be wearing masks in public places for more than 800 days"....
Silence at the table. The realist says, "Oh, come on, that happens in movies pal, you're way off base on this one."

It was one of those unimaginable world catastrophes no-one could even foresee. A first time ever worldwide lockdown. I remember thinking I am so glad this is only in Europe and surely we will be okay. Funny haha.

I remember the incredulous feeling of powerlessness the day the announcement came. But I also now take away from it all the knowledge of having overcome, and the wonderful realisation that God is still in control.

He is still the same yesterday, today and into all eternity. And because of that, nothing is too difficult too handle. We are overcomers par excellence. And it feels gooood.

So tonight I celebrate God's ultimate victory over everything, yes, also this abominable virus. We sit in high places because Jesus paid a price much higher than 800 days' mask wearing.
