Lockdown 711

Lockdown Day 711-7 March 2022
Today I decided to try out a short swim along King's Beach just behind the waves to test my back.
What a wonderful feeling to be back in the ocean after a week's absence! It did me the world of good and proved my back is on the heal.

The physiotherapist confirmed this after an infrared treatment of all the muscles revealed all was well enough to start swimming longer distances again.

Later, while struggling to reconnect our faulty router, I thought about how incredibly connected the world is at this moment in time and how we literally are lost when we don't have access.

I wondered how being cut off occasionally maybe isn't such a bad thing. Like a kind of "down time" to re-focus on what is really important and necessary.

At the same time I wonder how prepared we are in the event of a total internet crash or shut down. Much like the Russian locals and Ukraine people who have no access to news updates or internet. Basically they are in the 'dark'.
Many will say it will never happen just like many said the whole world will never be taken over by a virus.

The only sure thing to bank on no matter what happens, is God. God the Father, God the son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent (all-powerful) , omniscient (all-knowing) and omnipresent (everywhere at the same time) . Walking with Him is the way to go. Because He's got this.

Lockdown 709

Lockdown Day 709-5 March 2022
We enjoyed a slow start to a lazy Saturday after the men left for a drive on the farm.

Later in town for some fresh produce, we went for a delicious flat white and perfect wafer thin omelet at the local hang-out, the Ark.

Situated on the R75 going through the town and next to the dry riverbed, the Ark was buzzing with locals, boasting plenty of home baked goodies, clothing and home decor items for sale.

The afternoon temperature was a relatively cool 28°C as all of us settled down for a nap. We spent the evening enjoying a tomato lamb stew as just the karoo can offer. Lip smacking good with no off-switch for my tastebuds.

After a generous slice of amarula cream cake we called it a day and went to bed. The temperature never really cooled down and we fell asleep, grateful for the air conditioning in our room.

So tonight I honour another iron woman who farms on her own after many years in an oppressive marriage before becoming a widow. Not only had she endured the abuse of a narcissist and alcoholic, she stood the test of severe droughts and other adversities.

I am grateful she found a loyal supportive friend in our farmer friend and admire her for still looking to God for all her needs.
I salute you, Iron woman!

Lockdown 708

Lockdown Day 708- 4 March 2022
The weekend is here and after dropping off the pooch at her sitter for a schnauzie weekend, we head inland for a weekend on a farm in Jansenville.

While driving we watched the sun navigate through promising rain clouds, painting impressive vistas all around us.

Dinner consisted of lamb and chicken sosaties, wild mustard bean salad and banana salad. The quiet of the farm settles into our bones and soon we retire under the cool air-conditioning.

So tonight I am grateful for the love of my life, weekend getaways and a healing glute muscle. For farmers and the food they produce and people of the soil.

Lockdown 707

Lockdown Day 707- 3 March 2022
In keeping with gratitude, I have to say the nurturing of our spirit, soul, brain + body is irreversibly linked with how our life of gratitude plays out.

A nurtured and happy person finds gratitude easy. Of course the opposite is also true. Now, more than ever, self care is paramount.

The list of things to do is endless, but I find it essentially boils down to three things :
Time spent with God and His Word, water and exercise.

These things act as a catalyst for everything else. Keep them in check and the wellspring of life kicks into gear. What you feed your spirit, soul (will, intellect, emotions ) and body (including physical brain) determines rhe output.
Baking a cake with the wrong ingredients will not yield an edible cake. This is natural law.

So why not take stock of the three things and decide whether they feature enough in your daily life. If you don't know how to start, start with God. Because He's got you.

Lockdown 706

Lockdown Day 706- 2 March 2022
Gratitude often comes in the wake of a trial of some sort. Losing something valuable  often makes us realise its true value when it is lost.

While doing something I do everyday I hurt my back musles, changing my body from supple to rigid in a matter of seconds. After 3 days of muscle relaxants, stretch exercises and eventually physiotherapy, I regained most of my mobility.

Still very much aware and cautious of any wrong movement, I can appreciate little things like being able to stand up from a chair without my muscles going into spasms.

I also appreciate the ability to walk and exercise and to look after myself responsibly. Although I really don't know what brought this on, I treat it as a wake-up call to pay attention to my body.

We have the need to make our churches beautiful, so why not start with the temple of the Holy Spirit: our body.
So tonight I am grateful for good health and pray for those who are battling.

Lockdown 705

Lockdown Day 705-1 March 2022
Amidst speculation of abolishing any kind of state of emergency or Lockdown level, comes a rumour of a fifth "wave" of the abominable virus.
And true to our people's unwavering spirit, they are already joking about our country 'discovering' yet another new variant.

Sport celebrity Novak Djokovic is still standing his ground about his right to decide for himself, reminding all the world of their forgotten bills of human rights in their bid to get into the health guys' (you know who they are) good books.

Still I fail to find proof that any of those 'big boys' are consulting the Creator of the universe. Russia think they're the "boss", forgetting the demise other crazies such as Hitler faced after they thought they were on top.

History has a way of repeating itself, and clever men become idiots because they thought it wouldn't happen to them.
Man ruling man will wither away, no matter how great or invincible they are.

So tonight I rest in the fact that the Word of God is TRUE and will be fulfilled.  I rest in the fact that He is the invincible One who is Ruler of all. His Word says if I search for Him I will find Him.

God's got this.
