Lockdown Day 464 - 3 July 2021
This morning we decided to take a quick drive down the coast to Jeffreys Bay. Although the lockdown prevents us sitting down with a coffee, we can still enjoy the offerings of Jbay.
With the surf up and a warm winter wind to greet us, we walked along the surf shop route, window shopping from surfboards to zen boardshorts and everything inbetween.
We had a brilliant flat white takeaway from the local roastery Infood's contemporary restaurant Infood Coffee Society. After watching the surfers enjoying the waves, we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon at home switching channels between Wimbledon, Tour de France and Springbok rugby.
I thought a lot about everything we have experienced since Lockdown and wandered in my thoughts to a time we didn't have to consider how many people are around us or where we choose to go on high days and holidays.
I thought about how we could decide to go to the movies or theatre or sports stadium no matter who else was going and what unseen abominable virus could be hanging around.
So tonight I choose to un-covidify my life. Yes, I will follow the rules and document lockdown changes, but my mind will cut out all virus related muck the world keeps being bombarded with. The health and media sectors have been contradicting themselves into a very dangerous and totally discredited position.
Instead, I shall fill my psyche, spirit and heart with uplifting things such as art, music, nature and everything else that is incorruptible, pure and true. And daily gratitude towards my Creator, who gave His only Son as the answer to everything.
