Lockdown 67

Lockdown Day 67 - 1 June 2020
Day 1 of Level 3. Suddenly it feels as if a different vibe is in the air. A vibe of hope. And anticipation. Amidst the chaotic school reopening schedule, it seems our country is lifting it’s head to face the future. Let’s hope everyone keeps praying as Justice Mogoeng has requested and everyone sticks to the rules as our Prez has asked us to do, and above all pray as Mr. Prez said, “May God bless our country”.

After my usual house cleaning stint, Roxy and I took a much awaited walk around midday. What freedom! The warm Free State sun tickled my skin as we strolled through the reeds and followed a nature trail mostly covered by grass and protected overhead by lush winter foliage. The veld was yellow with long grass stems dancing in the breeze, their seeds waiting to be dispersed. Although I prefer to walk early morning when it's cold, today was mostly enjoyable because of the sun factor and the freedom factor.

Upon returning home I decided to order pizza from a place we've only recently heard about. Small menu with only two meaty and two veg options. Although expensive we took the plunge and ordered. With a few errands to run, we decided I would pick up the pizza. Oh my goodness. I did not expect a pizza this size. We could ask for half pepperoni and half buffalo chicken. The size? More than double a regular large from the usual pizza joints (hence the price), and absolutely delicious.  Definitely worth every cent and then some.

It took me back to my first evening in Venice when we arrived after dark and passed a tiny pizza place selling by the slice. I got a spinach and feta, one slice was humongous and more than enough. Any pizza triggering those memories deserves a shout out! NY Slice, you guys rock!

I toast life and level 3 tonight with my newly acquired champers and a glorious slice of pizza. And of course, a little jiggle to my lockdown song! Although my joy is ultimately rooted in a fail-safe faith, I allow myself to celebrate 🎉 the Life in me, rejoicing in my walk and striving to become whole in His prescence.

Yet again it is the words of Corrie ten Boom that comes to mind, "Of course it was not my wholeness, but Christ’s that made the difference."
Because He is whole I can live. Because He is whole, Lockdown is bearable. God's perfect love makes me a fearless overcomer. Thank goodness He's got this.
