Lockdown Day 79 - 13 June 2020
First the little birds start chirping on and off, as if saying, "okay it's morning, let's let everyone know" followed by, "no wait, it's still a way off, cut it out boys"! Eventually the birds erupt in joyous song, no matter the temperature or season. And today was no different.
Roxy and I had warmed up and were enjoying the sights and sounds of the morning. I started following the trail of sunshine painting lines through the trees. Suddenly, a song of Katrina and the Waves popped into my head and I started singing and dancing down the road. We were walking on sunshine!
Sunshine of the soul not only warms the heart, but it makes everything just seem better. It makes a good day shine, and any unloved soul feel welcome. The song is a foot stomping, hand clapping song as she sings, "and don't it feel good!" Then it hit me, if we can let our spirit, souls and body shine, the love in our hearts will be activated.
At that moment another song popped into my head, one I fear will give away my age, hahaha. Its called Put a Little Love In your Heart. And its lyrics are particularly inspiring, especially these words:
Take a good look around
And if you're looking down

Kindness will be your guide

And then of course the chorus goes like this:
And the world will be a better place

For you and me, you just wait and see.
So, taking my cue from the joyful birdsong this morning, I dropped my cares into God's hand and sang and danced through the day, feeling the love grow and the 'stuff' diminish. Yes, walking on sunshine is the new way to start each day. Let's make the world a better place by holding on to the God who put kindness and love in our hearts. And let Him handle this.
