Lockdown Day 92 - 26 June 2020
Friday! After a busy week I came home, prepped for dinner, and then relaxed with my people, catching up on each other's day, having a cup of tea together. Every week has its share of challenges, ups and downs, joys and less favourite moments. But when Friday evening arrives, all of it becomes history: the past. Whether you agree or disagree, the truth is you end the week a different person from the person you were on Monday.
It is much like a movie. You go to the theater (I hear we can actually now go to the movies) and watch approximately 90 minutes on a big screen. You experience it like real life. And when its done, you walk out changed, however small, you carry it out with you into your world.
I remember once when the children were in school, we went to see "The Day after Tomorrow". It is about a climatologist who warns the world of a coming ice age, which of course happens. The story is also about this climatologist, who treks across frozen terrain to find his son. I remember vividly how cold we all were when we walked out of the movies (it was summertime), how we were ready for hot chocolate and a cosy fire!
So when we saw this movie is screening again a while back, we decided to watch it again. Even though the matchbox is cosy in winter, we ended up huddling together with blankets and a cuppa! Movies like this leaves you touched and inspired. The "disaster"
element amplified our current situation with Lockdown, leaving us with a new perspective.
So when you go forward with the past week's happenings, remember to take whatever lifts you up, inspires you and gives you hope. Leave the rest where it should stay: in the past. If you have to pick up your soul, remember to feed it with water! If your spirit is crushed, don't doubt the power of the Word that says in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to the heartbroken and He saves those who are crushed in spirit".
So this weekend, I shall practice walking on water, knowing our Creator says, "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
(Isaiah 41:10) Trust Him, He is the only One who will get us there.
And yes, He's got this!
