Lockdown Day 475 - 14 July 2021

Little gems in our journey of life are often put there to remind us where we should look. I had to run a few errands and amongst other things collect an order at the pharmacy. While the pharmacist on duty was processing our order, her eyes told a story.

I was just thinking her eyes shine peace, when she said she wanted to tell me a story of one of the pharmacy workers who is an asthma sufferer who forgot her aspirator at home and as a result passed out in the bathroom yesterday. She came across her when she went to wash her hands, found her on the floor, resuscitated her and literally saved her life.

And then she said, " All we can do is accept Christ and have peace. Then pray for yourself and others to use this time we have on earth to make a difference. What good comes from fear when we know the amazing things that come from faith alone."  Wow.

When she handed me my packet, she said, "my name is the same as yours, I just knew I could share this story with you."

Another gem I found on our visit  to Jbay  was a miniature Schnauzer pup called Buddy, helping his people out in their shop. He came to greet me and allowed me to stroke his fur, sat when I asked and even gave me a soft paw 🐾. It was on a day I missed my pooch terribly....and there Buddy was.

To look up in a time such as this, strengthens our faith and opens our eyes to little gems that help get us through all this. So tonight I pray the presence of God over our country's people. I pray for His Spirit to move in a mighty way and to convict those of little faith, provide for those who lost everything and protect everyone with the Word from Psalm 91. Replace fear with faith and have peace. Because He's got this.

Lockdown 474

Lockdown Day 474 - 13 July 2021

Last night, while hearing Mr Prez taking charge, I decided to share with you a message I received from a friend. It tells the story of a man called John G Lake who lived during the bubonic plague during the late 1340's.

John and a friend believed in the "Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus". When the deceased had to be fetched they decided to go into the houses when no one else would, for fear of the plague. They also performed the burials, as people were also  scared of doing this, as this bug (a rodent pathogenic bacteria) was highly contagious.

A ship with doctors arrived, bringing meds and protective gear. While treating patients they heard of John and summoned him, convinced he could provide a cure. They asked him why they do not get sick. He said it was because of their minds that were positive, but in a very specific way. After explaining, John suggested a test to illustrate what he tried to convey.

The doctor and John each took a handful of foam from a recently deceased body's mouth and held it under a microscope. The bacteria in the doctor's hand were very much alive (as expected), but the same bacteria were dead in John's hand.

The doctor asked how this was possible upon which John said, "That is ‘the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.’ When a man’s spirit and a man’s body are filled with the blessed presence of God, it oozes out of the pores of your flesh and kills the germs.”

I firmly believe all impossibilities are possible for God, and upon reading this my heart soared. It soared because this is the God I serve. Because it is His Spirit oozing out of my pores.

So lets call it. Let's call the Spirit of God to fill every piece of tissue in our body, every little corner of our soul and spirit. And let's speak the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus over us all.

Because we know He's got this.

Lockdown 473

Lockdown Day 473 - 12 July 2021

And so Mr Prez extended the adjusted level 4 Lockdown regulations. The good news is restaurants can seat people and waiters have their daily income restored and Gauteng is still closed.

But what do the people do? They riot and loot and burn down businesses all because a criminal ex-prez is getting what he had coming.

Really? I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around how people allow a prez to steal from them and then want him back. At least our justice system is not totally bogus.

The mantra has changed as they now chant "virus" in stead of previous disad..... ag, you know the story. Tonight I am the presently disad....... citizen bemoaning my 2cents' worth on behalf of the rest of the country who just want peace and proper governance.

There are só many things wrong when people decide to ignore a deadly virus and trash their own country for a justice system that decided to (at last) be the boss.

And there is something wrong in a world where people blindly follow a one-eyed leader in stead of standing in their authority as creations of God. Oh how the Lord must feel about His creation.

The Nuremburg code was signed after Hitler's rampage to prevent any one person further forced to do anything without full voluntary consent and full disclosure by the world governing bodies. A code of human rights as a promise to all world citizens. But now we are all being blindsided, lead to stop questioning, conforming to these governing authorities.

So, while I mourn the loss of a recently found long lost friend who left this world this morning, I pray Romans 12:2 for the citizens of this world who still have fight left in them, who still believe they stand in the power of God:

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Lockdown Day 471 - 10 July 2021

Today I did a little people watching during our usual walk along the cliffs of Schoenmakerskop and surrounds. Although it was cold, the sun was out and the wind only a soft to medium breeze.

There were many people around, all geared for hiking, strolling, and fishing. The fishermen were dressed in waterproof suits, sauntering down the little paths to find "their" spot they believe the best catch will come from.

There were couples and friends unpacking chairs, eats and coffee, and families with excited kids and pooches going on "hikes" down the road, on the beach and on the surrounding nature trails just behind the village.

The little ice cream cart was doing very well, selling Italian gelato in spades in front of Sacramento, who are closed because of the level 4 restrictions.

Everyone I saw represented choice. The choice we have despite the confines of regulations of Lockdown levels of a pandemic, waging a war against an abominable virus. The choice to get up and look up, the choice to care and the will to get through this.

And the choice to walk the road with our God, because He's got this.

Lockdown 470

Lockdown Day 470 - 9 July 2021

Yesterday's scorcher of a hot day ended even worse with a storm of epic proportions including the most vicious of sea winds accompanied by sporadic raindrops. We woke up this morning to a crisp clear sky and a freezing, but strong breeze. Sadly, the ground showed no sign of the rain of last night. The last time I experienced such weather, it ended up snowing.

Snow Report SA's latest post confirms snowfall in the following regions:  Sutherland/Calvinia, Montagu/Cederberg (incl. Tulbagh and Franschhoek), Prins Albert/Oudtshoorn and Uniondale/Storms River, recording an average of 10cm snow. More snow is also expected for Lesotho, other western Cape areas and even Namibia.

Wondering whether the Langkloof (Uniondale at the top of this 160km gorge) has ever had snow, I decided to do some research. It seems the Langkloof often reports snow during the winter months and they actually had some snow in August 2020. 

But 10cm of snow over a 10 km² area equals only 25mm water runoff.  So, to fill the Kouga dam with snow melt, an unprecedented amount and depth of snowfall will have to occur all over the Langkloof. 

Looking at all the footage and maps of Langkloof, I realise only God can do this. This has been a daunting drought which has not let up and, through this pandemic, made things even harder for all the farmers producing quality fruit, vegetables and honeybush (used in tea, food and cosmetics). They also had to wither an extremely damaging hail storm in January this year, which caused a 70-90% loss of crops.

So tonight I commit to daily prayer for the Langkloof and PE for dams full of rain and the restoration of the rain cycle. I ask forgiveness for all that humankind has done and deperately believe He can answer this prayer if we all stand together. Our prayers and our faith is not locked down. Neither is the rain that comes from Heaven.

Lockdown 469

Lockdown Day 469 - 8 July 2021

While living in PE these past few weeks I noticed the sun can physically be seen rising over the sea over the harbour and bay.

As we are on the East Coast, it makes sense. But every time we go walking at Schoenmakerskop we can also physically see the sun setting just within sight very close to the horizon.

While I realise the sun sets in the West, its path 'seems' different because of  the Southern hemisphere is tilted farthest away from the sun which makes it seem as if it moves.

Ancient people were drawn to this and told numerous stories about how the sun "moves" through the seasons.  But of course today we know the Sun doesn't have a trajectory and is the pivotal point around which all planets in our galaxy orbit.

This got me thinking while outside today. I wondered about the size of the sun, moon and planets and how they would look if all of them were the same distance from us as, let's say the moon.

I found a terrific picture with all the planets depicted as if they were the same distance from earth as the moon. The moon is roughly the size of Australia and it is on average 384km (due to its elliptical orbit) away from the earth.

Wow. This is once again evidence of a Power the human brain cannot comprehend. To know thát power is my God who created it all, Jesus through whom nothing was made that was made and Holy Spirit who lives in me, is my LIFE. He most definitely has got this.
